CALARTS FACULTY, ALUMNI GET GRANTS.

Nineteen CalArts faculty members and alumni received Regional Arts and Cultural Grants from the city of Los Angeles
For the city, see Los Angeles, California.
The City of Los Angeles was a streamlined passenger train jointly operated by the Chicago and North Western Railway and the Union Pacific Railroad.
, either as individual artists or for their organizations.

Individual grants were given to Karen Atkinson for a multigenre art installation, Sam Durant Sam Durant (1961 - ) is a Los Angeles based contemporary artist who works in a variety of media.

Durant was born in Boston, Massachusetts and graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art with a BFA in sculpture in 1986 and later attended the California Institute of the
 for sculpture, Alan Eder for funding a production of ``Reggae Passover,'' Millie Wilson for a mixed-media art project, alumna Maria Bodmann to present two performances of shadow theater and alumnus ALUMNUS, civil law. A child which one has nursed; a foster child. Dig. 40, 2, 14.  T. Kim-Trang Tran to produce a Saturday art workshop for children.

In addition, faculty members and alumni who are part of Los Angeles-based artistic companies received grants.

Theresa Chavez's ``About Productions'' earned a grant to produce an interdisciplinary performance and Fred Dewey of ``Beyond Baroque'' was awarded a grant to support that program's reading series and the visiting writers reading/workshop series. The chamber music group, E.A.R. Unit, received a grant to present contemporary music at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, also known as LACMA, is the official and world-renowned art museum of the County of Los Angeles, California, located on Wilshire Boulevard along Museum Row in the Miracle Mile vicinity of Los Angeles.  and to conduct workshops for youths.

That group features CalArts faculty members Erika Duke-Kirkpatrick, a cellist; percussionist Arthur Jarvinen; and pianist Vicki Ray; along with CalArts alumni pianist Lorna Eder, percussionist Amy Knoles, violinist Robin Lorentz, clarinet clarinet, musical wind instrument of cylindrical bore employing a single reed. The clarinet family comprises all single-reed instruments, including the saxophone. The predecessor of the modern clarinet was the simpler chalumeau, which J. C.  player James Rohrig, conductor Rand Steiger and flutist Dorothy Stone. Zadonu Music and Dance, directed by Kobla Ladzekpo and choreographed by Beatric Lawluvi, received a grant to sponsor four concert performances.

Lastly, CalArts' youth outreach program, the Community Arts Partnership The Community Arts Partnership (usually known as CAP) was established in 1990,and is the first program of its kind in the U.S. The program links the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) to community art centers and public schools throughout Los Angeles County as part of an , which works with 11 Los Angeles-based community arts organizations and is directed by Glenna Avila, received a grant to expand eight of its programs.
