He's sharing the league's top individual honor with teammate Darin Reisman. Together, the good friends led the Coyotes to their second straight league championship this year, the third in five years. ``They were two big reasons we have done the type of things we have over the last few years,'' said Rick Nathanson, Calabasas co-head coach. Trosper was a varsity starter as a freshman outfielder. Over his career he sparkled as a fielder, hitter and pitcher. He pitched briefly as a freshman and sophomore, but really came into his own on the mound the past two years. He peaked this season with a 6-0 record and a 1.75 ERA. ``The thing about Tanner is that he's a guy that can beat you in so many different ways,'' Nathanson said. ``People may think of him now as a pitcher, but he's had an impact at every position he's played. I've said this a number of times, but he's probably the best athlete we've had in the program.'' Trosper tied for the school record with 82 career hits. As a pitcher, he had 162 strikeouts, which Nathanson believes is also a school record. Reisman, meanwhile, played two different infield positions in three years. This season, after settling in at second base, Reisman hit .453 and was terrific in the field. ``He's a throwback throwback see atavism. ballplayer,'' Nathanson said. ``The guy just had a huge impact for us. ``They're great friends but you can tell that there's a little bit of a good-natured rivalry with them as well,'' Nathanson said. ``I think because of that they've pushed each other to greater heights.'' In addition to Trosper and Reisman, Calabasas placed four players on the first-team all-league team and two on the second team. ``We felt we had a number of guys that were big-time players for us this year,'' Nathanson said. ``We just put it in the hands of the other coaches.
