 CAL RAD FORUM ANNOUNCES LAWSUITS AGAINST STATE OF CALIFORNIA
 FOR WARD VALLEY DISPOSAL FACILITY
 WHAT: A press conference to announce the filing of several lawsuits
 and amici curiae briefs against the State of California by
 many of its leading biotechnology firm, university research
 laboratories, utilities and other low-level radioactive waste
 (LLRW) generators. The suits claim a decision by the state
 to hold additional pre-licensing hearings on a proposed LLRW
 disposal facility in Ward Valley, Calif. was illegally
 coerced. The plaintiffs seek to block the hearings and
 prompt the licensing of the state and federally mandated
 project.
 WHEN: Tuesday, July 21, 1992.

 WHO: Co-sponsored by the California Radioactive Materials
 Management Forum (Cal Rad Forum), the San Diego Biomedical
 Industry Council (BIC), the National Association of Cancer
 Patients, California and Arizona's Health Physics Societies
 and U.S. Ecology Inc. Speakers include:
 David J. Krueger, president-elect of the Southern California
 Chapter of the Health Physics Society and representing
 California and Arizona's Health Physics Societies;
 Ken Widder, M.D., president and CEO of Molecular Biosystems
 Inc., and co-chairman of the San Diego Biomedical Industry
 Council; and
 Robert F. Carretta, M.D., past chairman and current board
 member of the Cal Rad Forum. Representing the Forum and the
 California Chapters of the Society for Nuclear Medicine and
 the American College of Nuclear Physicians.
