The Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) , (NYSE: PCG), is the utility that provides natural gas and electricity to most of Northern California. , that they would order the utilities to begin statewide rotating ro·tate v. ro·tat·ed, ro·tat·ing, ro·tates v.intr. 1. To turn around on an axis or center. 2. outages at around 2:30 p.m. As a result of hot temperatures around California, electricity demand has skyrocketed. The CAISO CAISO California Independent System Operator projects that peak demand will be over 38,000 megawatts today, more than 2,500 megawatts more usage than yesterday. The CAISO has said they could potentially order 500 megawatts of power statewide taken off the system through rotating outages. Pacific Gas and Electric Company will work with the CAISO to determine how many of its customers would be affected if the order for rotating outages was given. If the CAISO does need rotating outages, Pacific Gas and Electric Company would begin with customers in Block 1, and then move to Block 2.
