) today announced it has executed a contract to continue its role as a video programming provider for Southern New England Telephone The Southern New England Telephone Company (commonly referred to as SNET by its customers) started operations on January 27, 1878 as the District Telephone Company of New Haven. In an announcement on November 22, 1994, SNET reported that the Federal Communications Commission Federal Communications Commission (FCC), independent executive agency of the U.S. government established in 1934 to regulate interstate and foreign communications in the public interest.  has agreed to allow SNET to significantly expand its current Video Dialtone Trials. The current trial area is 1,250 homes in West Hartford, Conn. The trial will expand to 150,000 homes in Hartford and Fairfield Counties in Connecticut. The test enables SNET to deliver certain cable television services over its video dialtone network.
