CAHNERS SELLS AUTOMOTIVE & TRUCKING TITLES TO RANDALL PUBLISHING.

Cahners Business Information (New York) has sold four of its automotive and trucking properties to Randall Publishing Co. (Tuscaloosa, AL). No terms were given.

The acquired properties include four magazines. Automotive Industries was established in 1895 and is published monthly with a controlled circulation of about 100,000. Editorial covers the OEM industry with data on management, engineering, design, manufacturing, standards and materials. Owner Operator is published nine times a year with a mixed paid and controlled circulation of independent truckers and small fleet operators. It was launched in 1969. Commercial Carrier Journal, also published monthly, was established in 1911 for managers of truck fleets with more than 10 vehicles. All three of the above titles were originally a part of Chilton Co. The fourth title, RPM, was acquired by Cahners from Classic III (Cummings, GA) in 1999. Launched in 1992, it is a digest serving the truck owner/driver recruitment market and is published in four regional editions.

Cahners said it sold the properties as part of its ongoing effort to focus growth in its strategic markets. Since the beginning of February, Cahners has sold 19 magazines, including 11 titles (Dairy Foods, Food Engineering, Supply House Times) to Business News Publishing (Troy, MI) and four automotive titles (Motor Age, Automotive Body) to Advanstar Communications (Cleveland, OH). Also, Randall acquired PVN.com, a Web site for the trucking industry, earlier this month.
