CAHNERS CREATES INTERNET DIVISION; LAUNCHES E-COMMERCE CONFERENCE.
The new division will include eLogic, the recently purchased Web content management company plus all of Cahners' Internet activities, including the vertical portals being developed in the construction, retail, entertainment and electronics market sectors. Cahners has 140 Web sites. Smith will also manage Cahners' licensing, wireless and broadband activities and will also serve as chairman of the board of Manufacturing, net.
In related news, The Cahners Printing, Converting & Creative Group (New York) and RIT Research, a subsidiary of Rochester Institute of Technology, will produce an educational "summit conference" on e-commerce for the graphic communications industries in the spring of 2001. The conference, which will include both commercial printers and print buyers, will be held in two separate sessions. The first conference will take place on the West Coast in February 2001 with the second on the East Coast in May. Course material is being prepared by RIT Research.
