Cavanagh Scholarship Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 17, 2005 at The Harvard Club of New York The Harvard Club of New York, incorporated in 1887, is housed in adjoining lots at 27 West 44th Street and 35 West 44th Street. It was designed in red brick neo-Georgian style by Charles Follen McKim of McKim, Mead, and White in 1884. City. The luncheon was held in honor of ten students who will receive a CAGNY college scholarship this year. John A. Cavanagh, for whom the scholarship program is named, was elected Chairman Emeritus in 2004, after serving as CAGNY's Chairman since the organization's inception, as well as providing critical leadership at the time of the Association's founding in 1984. In 2001, CAGNY created the college scholarship program to enhance educational opportunities for tomorrow's construction industry leaders. Each year, the Fund presents a scholarship award to several worthy high school seniors, six of whom this year shall be children of persons employed by one of the eligible CAGNY member firms. In 2004 CAGNY created a new recipient category entitled "Honorable Mention" which provides several worthy students with a college stipend. CAGNY, a multi-employer association of the leading construction managers and general contractors operating in the Metropolitan New York area, is defined by the strength of its member organizations--perhaps the most talented, top-quality construction firms in the world.
