William "Billy" McNeill MBE (born 2 March, 1940) is a former Scottish footballer and manager.
 has been a magnificent ambassador for Celtic, for Scottish football and for himself for as long as I can remember.

That it took his club so long to recognise him for it formally is shameful shame·ful

a. Causing shame; disgraceful.

b. Giving offense; indecent.

2. Archaic Full of shame; ashamed.
 - but at least they've righted a wrong.

You have to ask, though - surely Billy's first duty in his new role should have been a bit more dignified than drawing the half-time raffle on Wednesday night? Did they then make him nip upstairs and pass out the Ferrero Rocher Ferrero Rocher are small, spherical chocolate sweets made by Ferrero SpA. The sweets consist of a whole roasted hazelnut encased in a thin wafer shell filled with nutella/hazelnut cream and covered in milk chocolate and chopped hazelnuts.  to the fat cats? When you see the way other top European clubs treat their gods, they do it right. And that's what Billy is.

Hopefully Celtic will treat him that way for years to come.
