CAERE CORP. CONTINUES COMMITMENT TO INTERNATIONAL MARKETS:
APPOINTS MANAGER AND ESTABLISHES MANUFACTURING PRESENCE
LOS GATOS, Calif., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- As evidence of the company's increasing strategic focus on international markets, Caere(R) Corp. (NASDAQ: CAER) made two significant announcements today aimed at bolstering its European presence.
The company announced that Edda W. Tusinac has been appointed to the newly created position of manager, European sales and marketing. In her new role, Tusinac, 49, will oversee all European sales and marketing activities out of Caere's new European office, (Caere GmbH), located in Munich, Germany. Tusinac will relocate to the new office, effective Sept. 1. This announcement follows the company's recent appointment of Larry Lunetta to the new position of director, international markets.
In order to better serve its customers outside the United States, Caere also announced a strategic alliance with Technodisc Ltd. to provide European manufacturing support. The operation, located in Dublin, Ireland, will initially manufacture localized versions of OmniPage Professional for IBM personal computers and compatibles. Technodisc Ltd. will also work with Caere to provide select European marketing services.
"The appointment of Edda and the establishment of a European manufacturing operation allow us to better serve our international customers by providing dedicated personnel with local market expertise," said John Migliore, Caere's executive vice president and chief operating officer. "With our OmniPage product family that recognizes 11 western European languages, Caere's products continue to gain worldwide market acceptance. These moves reinforce our commitment to international markets."
Prior to joining Caere, Tusinac served as director of worldwide sales for Advanced Vision Research Inc., a scanner manufacturer. She has also held senior-level international positions with Xerox Imaging Systems, NetExpress Systems and Qume Corp. Tusinac holds a B.A. in Business Administration from the business college of Karlsruhe, Germany.
As further evidence of its strong worldwide presence, Caere's international sales continue to grow, representing 39 percent of net revenues in 1991, up from 34 percent in 1990. In addition, the company's products have garnered numerous international industry awards. For example, Caere's Typist Plus Graphics product received three awards this year: MacUser Editor's Choice for Best Input Device, presented in London, and MacWorld Australia's Most Promising Newcomer in Hardware and Best Digitized Scanner. OmniPage has also received three prestigious awards this year from computer trade publications in the United States, including PC Magazine Editors' Choice, MacWorld World Class Contest, and WordPerfect Magazine Readers Choice.
Caere Corp., based in Los Gatos, is the industry's leader in the design, manufacture and sale of information recognition software and products that provide an economical, accurate means of converting text, numeric and bar-code data into computer-usable form.
