Owings Mills, Md.-based CADO Systems Inc. and Sequoia Software Corp., Columbia, Thursday announced the formation of a strategic marketing and new product development agreement between the two firms.

The partnership will enhance CADO's ability to develop highly customized information management software solutions. Using Sequoia's award-winning healthcare transaction server, Medstar(TM), CADO will extend the value they currently provide to the health care market. The agreement takes effect immediately.

CADO Systems is a leading provider of information management systems for the Mid-Atlantic health care community. CADO's products and services are used by over 1,200 physicians and care providers in the region.

 Sequoia President, Mark Wesker, the relationship with CADO Systems reflects the fast growing interest in and acceptance of the Web-based technology used by Medstar.

"Sequoia's use of SGML/XML architecture allows for a great deal of flexibility in how Medstar is used and the various types of information it can manage," said Wesker. Sequoia recently won a contract from the U.S. Department of Commerce to develop a national master patient index In medical systems the Master Patient Index (MPI) is an index referencing all patients known to an area, enterprise or organization.
