their existing parts, consolidate suppliers, eliminate duplicate part creation and encourage re-use.

By providing fast, accurate and intuitive access to part information based on attributes, CADIS Parts Management provides a view of existing part data across the enterprise these companies have never been able to generate with existing technology.

All "like" parts can be quickly located -- regardless of the part number or text description originally assigned -- making part rationalization, vendor consolidation and part re-use far easier to implement.

For large manufacturers, the savings associated with these efforts can be measured in the millions, as the life cycle cost associated with a single new part (including design, manufacture, inventory and tracking) is estimated to be $5,000 to $50,000 per part. Ingersoll-Rand, Lexmark, 3M and Applied Materials join companies such as Lennox, GE, Tektronix, Navistar, Scientific-Atlanta and General Signal as CADIS customers.

Ingersoll-Rand has launched initiatives with CADIS in two of its major businesses, with the Construction and Mining Group (C&M) leading the roll-out.

"Ingersoll-Rand is taking aggressive steps to transform itself into a best-practices company that is focused on meeting the needs of its customers. The parts and vendor management system from CADIS is a crucial tool for us in this effort," said Rick Kane Richard James Kane (born November 12, 1954 in Lincoln, Nebraska) was an American football running back in the NFL for the Detroit Lions and the Washington Redskins. He played college football for the University of Oregon and San Jose State University. , vice president of procurement/Construction & Mining Group for Ingersoll-Rand.

"CADIS will be used to legacize parts data from Ingersoll-Rand's multiple divisions, giving us an organized view of our data that we've never had before and one that can quickly identify potential, costly duplicates." The C&M group will be integrating several U.S. locations with its German manufacturing site to gain worldwide procurement leverage.

Lexmark plans to integrate the CADIS Parts Management solution with their PDM (1) (Product Data Management) An information system used to manage the data for a product as it passes from engineering to manufacturing. The data includes plans, geometric models, CAD drawings, images, NC programs as well as all related project data, notes and  system, IBM's product manager, to manage the release of new parts into the system. 3M will begin its roll-out in the hard goods division. Applied Materials will be implementing a pilot of CADIS parts management at their headquarters in Santa Clara. The company has plans to tie in their United Kingdom plant as well.

CADIS Parts Management is a high-performance client/server software solution using object technology, coupled with the CADIS Legacy Processing Services(sm) that consolidates, processes and transforms existing "legacy" parts data and populates the CADIS parts schema with the customer data.

The CADIS software is complemented with a range of consulting and implementation services aimed at providing a total solution. Consulting services Noun 1. consulting service - service provided by a professional advisor (e.g., a lawyer or doctor or CPA etc.)
service - work done by one person or group that benefits another; "budget separately for goods and services"
includes schema development to handle "custom" parts unique to a company.

Services to integrate CADIS Parts Management into existing MRP (Material Requirements Planning) An information system that determines what assemblies must be built and what materials must be procured in order to build a unit of equipment by a certain date. , Product Data Management (PDM) or computer aided design (application) Computer Aided Design - (CAD) The part of CAE concerning the drawing or physical layout steps of engineering design. Often found in the phrase "CAD/CAM" for ".. manufacturing".  (CAD) systems and processes are a key element of the total solution. The cost of CADIS installations ranges from $200,000 to $500,000, including Legacy Processing Services.
