CADIS adds Ingersoll-Rand, 3M, Applied Materials and Lexmark to impressive customer base.

BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 1995--CADIS Inc., the leading developer of parts management solutions, Tuesday announced the addition of four new major customers in the last two months.

Ingersoll-Rand, based in Bethleham, Pa., Lexmark Inc., based in Lexington, Ky., 3M Corp., based in St. Paul, Minn. and Applied Materials based in Santa Clara, Calif. are using CADIS Parts Management to effectively manage their existing parts data to achieve dramatic cost savings and leverage strategic vendor relationships, in their bid to control the proliferation of parts and vendors.

CADIS Parts Management -- already installed at a number of Fortune 500 manufacturers -- combines a patent-pending set of software, services and consulting to give manufacturers the ability to rationalize their existing parts, consolidate suppliers, eliminate duplicate part creation and encourage re-use.

By providing fast, accurate and intuitive access to part information based on attributes, CADIS Parts Management provides a view of existing part data across the enterprise these companies have never been able to generate with existing technology.

All "like" parts can be quickly located -- regardless of the part number or text description originally assigned -- making part rationalization, vendor consolidation and part re-use far easier to implement.

For large manufacturers, the savings associated with these efforts can be measured in the millions, as the life cycle cost associated with a single new part (including design, manufacture, inventory and tracking) is estimated to be $5,000 to $50,000 per part. Ingersoll-Rand has launched initiatives with CADIS in two of its major businesses, with the Construction and Mining Group (C&M) leading the roll-out.

Lexmark plans to integrate the CADIS Parts Management solution with their PDM system, IBM's product manager, to manage the release of new parts into the system. 3M will begin its roll-out in the hard goods division. Applied Materials will be implementing a pilot of CADIS parts management at their headquarters in Santa Clara. The company has plans to tie in their United Kingdom plant as well.

CADIS Parts Management is a high-performance client/server software solution using object technology, coupled with the CADIS Legacy Processing Services(sm) that consolidates, processes and transforms existing "legacy" parts data and populates the CADIS parts schema with the customer data.

The CADIS software is complemented with a range of consulting and implementation services aimed at providing a total solution. Consulting services includes schema development to handle "custom" parts unique to a company.
