CADCA Joins Office Depot to Award Backpacks and Supplies to Washington, D.C. WHAT: Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), a national
organization that represents more than 5,000 community
coalitions across the country that help build safe, healthy
and drug-free communities, will join Office Depot on Tuesday,
September 19 at 10 a.m. at Kelly Miller High School in
Northeast Washington, D.C., to present 1,000 backpacks to
Washington, D.C. Public School students. This initiative is
part of Office Depot's National Backpack Program, which aims
to put backpacks filled with school supplies in the hands of
needy children in time for the new school year. This summer
alone, Office Depot donated more than 300,000 backpacks
containing basic school supplies to underprivileged and
"at-risk" children. The donation represents a milestone of
one million backpacks donated by Office Depot to children
nationwide since the inceptions of its signature in-kind
program, which began in 2001.
The No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion, driven by Carl Edwards
in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, will also be on display at
the school. Students can have their picture taken with the
car, and can take an up-close look under the hood and inside
the car. As part of the event, Office Depot is distributing
No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion die-cast cars (1:64 replica)
to all Kelly Miller Middle School students in attendance at
the event.
