Graybill said more than 25 stripped cars were found in a one-mile radius around the chop shop - from Canterbury and Woodman avenues to Osborn and Branford streets.

About six months ago, police noticed a drastic increase in stripped cars - mostly high-priced Hondas - getting dumped in that area, as many as three to four a week.

Usually only fenders and frames would be left on cars that originally cost $15,000 to $20,000 new. Total value of a stripped car: $100.

John Faga, 85, who's lived on the block for the past 39 years, said he noticed his new neighbors move in about a year ago.

``All the time we see a different car, something suspicious,'' Faga said. ``These people, they never work and they live like a king.''
