CABLEVISION UNVEILS MAJOR UPGRADE TO FREE ONLINE SECURITY.

Examples include the Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) in the United Kingdom, and the  the company makes available to its Optimum Online customers, to help protect against the growing number of online threats that can jeopardize privacy and diminish PC performance. Available immediately for download through the Optimum.net consumer Web portal, Cablevision is offering CA's award-wining Internet Security Suite Plus 2008 as a value-added benefit to Optimum Online customers.

The security software package, which has a retail value of $69.99, provides users with comprehensive Internet security and data protection. The software includes anti-virus, anti-spyware, personal firewall, anti-spam, anti-phishing and parental controls, as well as data backup and transfer capabilities. The suite provides advanced protection from viruses, hackers, spyware and spam while ensuring important files, photos, music and PC settings are safe and conveniently backed-up should they need to be restored or transferred to a new PC.

"In addition to giving our Optimum Online customers the ability to go really fast on the Internet, we want to make sure they have the tools at their disposal to go safe as well," said John Trierweiler, Cablevision's senior vice president of product management. "The addition of this enhanced Internet security suite from CA is yet another value-added benefit for Cablevision customers that demonstrates our ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction and providing the best possible high-speed Internet experience."

Optimum Online customers interested in obtaining the free software can find it at the security section of http://www.optimum.net/, the Optimum Online consumer Web portal. Users requesting the software will receive via their Optimum Online e-mail instructions on how to download and install the security suite as well as the license key to activate the product and receive periodic updates as they become available.

Optimum Online has provided free security services to customers for the past three years. While Optimum Online has always provided anti-virus, personal firewall and parental control capabilities, this important security software update now includes anti-spyware, anti-spam, anti-phishing, data back-up and transfer, and more advanced parental controls.
