Hoping to go beyond a mere accounting of votes Nov. 5, some watchers of local politics are producing a three-hour ``Election Night Live'' program on public access cable, Channel 8.

The show will start at 8 p.m. after polling places close and feature in-depth information about the candidates and ballot issues along with running tallies of results.

The show will maintain neutrality - facts and analysis will be the name of the game, said producer Tina Carlson. She wants to stimulate public interest in the political process by keeping residents informed about the election through a lively, entertaining format.

``It's about supporting the process - it's not about taking sides; it's about informing people,'' Carlson said. ``I think it's important and if they can learn in a painless pain·less

The program will be produced with the help of cable company TCI (Trustworthy Computing Initiative) An umbrella term from Microsoft for its efforts to improve security in Windows. ``We will have creative control,'' she said. ``It's great because the technical aspect is being provided by TCI. We don't have to worry about it.''

The idea came to him after Wednesday's Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by  Chamber of Commerce candidates forum, when he was struck by the lack of thorough election night broadcasts focusing on local races and issues.

State and national races also would be reported in the program, he said.

``We thought, `Wouldn't it be nice to have a Conejo Valley election central,' '' Diaz said. ``I thought about it, and the more I thought about it the more I got excited about it.''

As envisioned, ``Election Night Live'' will contain three segments, each about an hour long. The first one will begin when the polls close at 8 p.m., he said, introducing the races, candidates and measures affecting the city and include absentee One who has left, either temporarily or permanently, his or her domicile or usual place of residence or business. The public also will be able to call in with questions for the analysts.

The second segment would comprise public service announcements and presentations about the police's Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving problem solving

The last hour would be devoted largely to community service groups and analysis by local political reporters, he said.

And ensuring that no local races are excluded, the program also would include results from another race - the student council elections at Meadows Elementary School elementary school: see school. , Diaz said.

``This is a Conejo Valley, down-home, open town meeting, election night-type of process,'' he said about the show's concept.
