It took 59 minutes to locate the problem and repair the cable, said Don Kincaid, operations superintendent for Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  Edison's local office.

Dani Alexander decided to take an early lunch break rather than sit around waiting for the power to return at the manufacturing company where she works. She wasn't alone, coming across a crowd at 11 a.m. gathered at B & B Catering's hotdog stand on Avenue Scott.

``I'm not really hungry yet, but it was dark inside, the air conditioning air conditioning, mechanical process for controlling the humidity, temperature, cleanliness, and circulation of air in buildings and rooms. Power went out at 10:32 a.m. and was restored at 11:08 to about 600 of the 808 businesses, Kincaid said. It took little more than 20 minutes more to bring electricity back to the eastern edge of the industrial park and to some traffic signals on McBean.

Kincaid said the faulty cable will be analyzed to determine the cause of the outage. Possibilities include stress from wear and tear or moisture intrusion.
