CA boss backs beleaguered Hilditch.

Sydney, Jan 4 (ANI): Cricket Australia Cricket Australia, formerly (and still often referred to as) the Australian Cricket Board, is the governing body for professional and amateur cricket in Australia. It was originally formed in 1905 as the Australian Board of Control for International Cricket Matches.  boss James Sutherland For the Canadian politician, see .

James Sutherland was a minor supporting character on the FX Networks television show, Nip/Tuck. He was played by Georg Stanford Brown.

Australia has made 27 changes in 18 Tests since the retirements of Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Justin Langer. South Africa captain Graeme Smith has criticised the revolving-door policy as lacking clarity and resembling the disarray of England.

Sutherland told The Sun-Herald that vigorous selection debate was now par for the course as Australia attempted to rebuild its crumbling empire.

"In selecting the selectors, we vest in them the responsibility to pick, in their best judgement, the team that is right for the day," Sutherland said.

"Within that selection policy there is always an eye to the future. We want to win every game but considering the future is also enshrined in the policy. From that respect, they are doing the best job they can. There is no doubt we are in transition. There was a long time there where the team was very settled, but what we have now is a more normal situation."

, Sutherland described the introduction of new players as a test of Australia's development programs and coaching methods.

"South Africa have had the same team for three Test matches in a row, they're on top of their game, they're playing great cricket, but what we are going through now is a little bit of what sport all around the world is about," he said.

"I've always maintained sporting success is cyclical and we cannot expect to stay on top all the time. We'll fight as hard as we can to stay on top, and that's very much in the players' thoughts, but from a development perspective I'm really looking forward to this stage," Sutherland said.

Asked if he supported all recent selections, Sutherland replied: "I honestly believe the selectors are following the criteria they are provided with. I have absolutely no problem with that."

Recently retired Test spinner Stuart MacGill claimed every player in the Australian team deserved support for the mere fact they are the Australian team. (ANI)
