CA Guides Customers Down Y2K Homestretch With Free, Comprehensive "Millennium Watch" Service.

To Help Ensure Full Enterprise Preparedness For January 1, 2000

Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA), the worldwide leader in enterprise computing solutions and services, today unveiled a market-driven, full-scale Y2K readiness program available for eligible clients worldwide. Dubbed "Millennium Watch(SM)," this free, enhanced service offering is designed to help clients of specific CA Y2K-compliant products successfully complete the final stages of their Y2K readiness programs, including all necessary upgrades and testing.

Millennium Watch includes extensive Web, telephone and on-site support resources, as available, on a prioritized basis to CA clients with active maintenance and support agreements. Clients will also be able to register scheduled testing periods online, placing themselves on the Millennium Watch "Hot Site" list. Clients on this Hot Site list will gain priority access to certain dedicated CA support resources for any issues opened during these periods.

CA will also provide eligible clients with a dedicated on-site support representative, on a limited "as available" basis, from December 30, 1999 to January 4, 2000 to assist in production system cut over, for CA products included in the program. Those clients will only have to pay for travel and meal expenses - not for any billable hours. CA is committing to full staffing during this period, with all designated technical support personnel on 24x7 alert.

In addition, a Millennium Watch "ombudsman" will be assigned to each of CA's 50 worldwide support centers. These management contacts will be available on a 24x7 basis to assist in escalating Y2K issues, and to provide a focal point in each center for contingency planning. A dedicated Web site, www.cai.com/2000, will serve as a primary, quick-response clearinghouse for information on CA software and services, including technical tips and management insights for a successful Y2K conversion, services and support contacts, and relevant data on current and prior CA product releases. Clients currently subscribing to CA's Total Client Care service will also have a direct link into support for up-to-the-minute Y2K updates.

Additional fee-based Millennium Watch services are available through CA Global Professional Services' (GPS) comprehensive Y2K compliance consulting and support practice. The GPS Y2K practice has already completed a significant volume of compliance work for clients around the globe and is providing "fast-path" upgrades of CA products. In addition, GPS is providing IT assessment services aimed at process improvements during the Year 2000.

CA is also supporting clients' Y2K efforts with its powerful suite of CA Discovery 2000 tools, which can help reduce the costs and maximize the success of Year 2000 initiatives. CA Discovery 2000 incorporates automated solutions for every phase of a Year 2000 effort - from initial portfolio assessment through code conversion, Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) and testing to final production turnover.
