CA Acquires 3Name3D to Bolster 3D Technology Leadership.


ISLANDIA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--October 29, 1998--

Operations And Products To Be Incorporated Into New Viewpoint

Subsidiary

Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced the acquisition of privately-held 3Name3D, a leading 3D design and production firm. The acquisition complements CA's simultaneous acquisition of 3D content leader Viewpoint DataLabs. 3Name3D will become part of the new Viewpoint subsidiary. Financial terms were not disclosed.

In combination with the content and technology gained from Viewpoint, 3Name3D will provide key technical expertise, multimedia experience and creative talents for the ongoing advancement of CA software. CA will also be able to leverage 3Name3D's significant technical and marketing expertise in 3D development to branch out into additional next-generation computing offerings.

CA had taken an equity stake in 3Name3D in April of 1997. The success of the working relationship led to the decision by both companies to move forward with a full acquisition. As part of Viewpoint, 3Name3D will continue to operate with its existing management team and employees in California.
