ARCADIA - Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest.  High has stormed past most of its opponents behind the strong arm of quarterback Hudson Gossard, but the Falcons had a surprise for Arcadia with the Pacific League title on the line Thursday.

Coach Alan Eberhart decided to unleash his running attack, which proved to be the difference as the Falcons defeated Arcadia 31-24 to earn a share - along with Arcadia - of the league title.

rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns for the Falcons (9-1, 4-1).

Arcadia, which needed a victory to clinch Clinch, river, c.300 mi (480 km) long, formed by the junction of two forks in SW Va., and flowing generally SW across E Tenn. to the Tennessee River at Kingston.  the title outright, now finds itself in a tough position heading into the playoffs next week.

If Muir beats Pasadena in today's Turkey Tussle, the Mustangs will force a three-game tie for the Pacific League title. A coin flip earlier in the week had already decided the fate. Muir would get the top seed and Crescenta Valley the second seed. Arcadia slips to third and can do no better than the second seed if Muir loses.

``It's not bitter, it would have been real nice to win this one, but we're excited about the playoffs,'' Arcadia coach Jon Dimalante said. ``Tonight's over, now we have to look at the playoffs with a positive attitude.''
