Any of three breeds derived from a medieval hunting dog that would set (lie down) when it found birds so that it and the birds could be covered with a net. Setters have long hair on the ears, chest, legs, and tail.
Tim Nollan hurt the most when the Vikings were denied their first chance to reach a final as Bishop Montgomery advanced for the first time, 4-15, 15-7, 9-15, 15-5, 15-7 at Harvard-Westlake High School.

, many of the Vikings (17-2) were in tears. Nollan's eyes were red, too, but he had an ice pack taped to his right shoulder after dislocating it in the fifth game.

With Bishop Montgomery (16-0) ahead 9-7, Nollan and Knights middle blocker Jimmy Graham went up for a ball at the net. Nollan won the ball, and the Vikings eventually won the sideout, but Graham pushed so hard against the ball that Nollan's shoulder popped out.

This wasn't a total shock, since Nollan had surgery on that shoulder last summer.

Still, the pain was ``worse than having a baby,'' Nollan said. But when coach Tim Jensen Tim Jensen is a long-time collaborator with anime soundtrack producer/composer Yoko Kanno and her group The Seatbelts. He has worked with her on many soundtracks, including Cowboy Bebop, and Wolf's Rain.  asked if he wanted to come out, there was no doubt in Nollan's mind.

``I said no because this could be my last game of the season and I wanted to finish it,'' he said. ``That and my desire to win.''

Three points later, Bishop Montgomery coach Mark McGuiness said he had not noticed Nollan was hurting.

``He was crouched crouch

down at the net, waiting for the timeout to end,'' was what McGuiness said he saw. ``It seemed like he was setting pretty well at the end.''

Nollan finished with 43 assists, mostly going to Pacific-bound Dylan Herrick, who registered 25 kills, seven aces and four stuff blocks. Sophomore Larry Cole Larry Rudolph Cole (born November 15, 1946 in Clarkfield, Minnesota) is a former American football defensive lineman in the NFL who played his entire professional career with the Dallas Cowboys. He played in five Super Bowls, winning Super Bowl VI and XII.  was next with 10 kills, and junior Jon Rosenberg had nine.

These schools had faced each other in last year's quarterfinals, with Campbell Hall winning. Nollan said this Bishop Montgomery team was different.

``They had more inspiration this year, more desire to win,'' Nollan said.

McGuiness said last season's defeat was on the team's mind, and the Knights received balanced hitting to advance to a final for the first time in the program's 20 seasons.

Robert Landers, who has signed with Loyola Marymount, led with 18 kills, seven stuff blocks and two aces. Senior Yariel Chong added 11 kills, and senior DeShawn Bailey had five of his 10 kills in the fifth game.
