Operations Support Systems Operations Support Systems (also called Operational Support Systems or OSS) are computer systems used by telecommunications service providers. The term OSS most frequently describes "network systems" dealing with the telecom network itself, supporting processes such  in the Network Operations Center See NOC.

Network Operations Center - (NOC) A location from which the operation of a network or internet is monitored. Additionally, this center usually serves as a clearinghouse for connectivity problems and efforts to resolve those problems.

Ken Wright, Chief Technology Officer (CTO (Chief Technical Officer) The executive responsible for the technical direction of an organization. See CIO and salary survey. ) of C-COR.net Corp. (Nasdaq:CCBL), will present "Eyes Wide Shut - Removing the Service Provider Blind Spots" at a panel session of California Cable & Telecommunications Association's Broadband Plus 2002 Show in Anaheim, California “Anaheim” redirects here. For Annaheim, see Annaheim, Saskatchewan.

Anaheim is a city in Orange County, California, located 28 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
, on December 4, 2002 (Session B, 2:30 - 3:45 PM CT). Wright and a distinguished panel of industry experts will address the role of operations support systems (OSS Oss (ôs), city (1994 pop. 62,141), North Brabant prov., S Netherlands; chartered 1399. It is a significant industrial center. Manufactures include meat products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment, and metalware. ) at the core of the modern broadband network--the network operations center.

Today, cable operations management has reached a crucial turning point. The industry is migrating to complex two-way, multi-service HFC networks, segmentation, carriage of analog and digital signals, and the increased network requirements for delivering high quality, always-on broadband services. As a result, managing the entire end-to-end network service infrastructure is increasingly unpredictable and costly. Much of the difficulty rests with the lack of critical, real-time network and service data in the hands of operational managers and front-line support personnel, thereby compromising quality of service and informed business decision-making. Ken Wright will examine these "service provider blind spots" in his presentation and identify ways in which the cable operator can remove these obstacles by employing next-generation OSS platforms.
