KIKI'S BISTRO started the renaissance movement in River North when Kiki wanted to bring a friendly, neighborhood French Bistro there with a casual and comfortable atmosphere, offering authentic and delectable French cuisine. Kiki, a native of Eastern France, began his over 50 years of restaurant business experience in Europe at places like La Closerie des Lilas in Paris, well known for its famous clients such as Ernest Hemingway Noun 1. After Maxim's de Chicago, Kiki opened and became well known for his restaurant, Le Bordeaux on Madison Street in Chicago on January 1, 1969. Le Bordeaux had an authentically French, dreamlike quality in a subterranean atmosphere, providing an escape into another world and attracting a unique blend of clientele. Kiki later expanded opening Le Bordeaux on Michigan Michigan (mĭsh`ĭgən), upper midwestern state of the United States. It consists of two peninsulas thrusting into the Great Lakes and has borders with Ohio and Indiana (S), Wisconsin (W), and the Canadian province of Ontario (N,E).  in Chicago and finally opened his present restaurant, KIKI'S BISTRO.
