C&M Chooses Reflex Photonics as Partner for Specialized Optical Cabling Solutions.

Custom Cable Manufacturer to Integrate High-Speed Optical Engines to Further Advance Active Optical Cable Product Line

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Reflex Photonics, an advanced developer of extreme high-speed optical connectivity solutions for semiconductor packaging and data transfer applications, announced that it will partner with C&M Corporation, a vertically integrated manufacturer of custom cable, coil cords and cable assemblies, to further develop customized optical cabling solutions for high end robotics robotics, science and technology of general purpose, programmable machine systems. Contrary to the popular fiction image of robots as ambulatory machines of human appearance capable of performing almost any task, most robotic systems are anchored to fixed positions , audio visual (A/V (1) (Audio/Video) Refers to equipment and applications that deal with sound and sight. The A/V world includes microphones, tape recorders, audio mixers, still and video cameras, film projectors, slide projectors, VCRs, CD and DVD players/recorders, amplifiers and ), government supercomputing, datacom, medical, industrial and military applications.

"After an extensive search to find the right technology partner, Reflex Photonics and its LightABLE optical engines proved to be a perfect fit for our specialized cabling solutions, as they can withstand the harshest external operating conditions including temperature, humidity and EMI (ElectroMagnetic Interference) An electrical disturbance in a system due to natural phenomena, low-frequency waves from electromechanical devices or high-frequency waves (RFI) from chips and other electronic devices. Allowable limits are governed by the FCC.  interference," said Joseph Iamartino, vice president of business development at C&M. "Active optical assemblies incorporate the best features of copper and fiber interconnect solutions and have been sought by robotic and industrial automation specialists for years. We look forward to meeting their technology requests with a family of rugged, ultra-reliable hybrid cabling products. Reflex's optical engines offer the exact level of reliability needed for such solutions, and we are very excited to see them integrated with our existing products and look forward to developing even more advanced solutions with them in the future."

Because of their high functionality and feature integration, including a two-wire serial interface, the LightABLE optical engines offer the most practical solution for DDR/SDR InfiniBand[TM], 10 Gigabit Ethernet An Ethernet standard that transmits at 1 Gbps.
