I'M shocked and disappointed to have been charged by the FA over my contract renegotiations with Blackburn in January 2007.

Their case seems to be I didn't have a written contract with George Urquhart, who helped me out with the deal, at the time.

I understand that the FA need to have rules to stop rogue agents ripping clubs and players off.

But there is nothing underhand here.

All our business has been done over a handshake rather than anything written down because I'm a man of my word who believes in keeping his promises.

That's what I'll be telling the FA at the personal hearing.
