Buzz Aldrin Endorses Optic Communications in Television Commercial Campaign.


BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Dr. Buzz Aldrin aldrin /al·drin/ (al´drin) a chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticide, closely related to dieldrin; ingestion or skin contact causes neurotoxic reactions that can be fatal., the legendary Apollo 11 astronaut and second man to walk on the moon, will serve as spokesperson for Optic Communications and appear in the company's marketing and promotional materials. It is highly anticipated that Aldrin's promotion and endorsement of Optic Communications will spur the continued growth of the international telecommunications service provider.

Aldrin made history on July 20, 1969, when he and Neil Armstrong walked on the moon in front of the largest television audience ever. Aldrin will soon appear on television once again when his Optic Communications television commercial is aired later this month. The Aldrin commercial is intended to spearhead Optic Communications' current advertising campaign, which focuses on the promotion of its business consumer product line. Optic Communications' Chief Executive Officer, Michael Arnau, stated of Aldrin, "Dr. Aldrin is a man of extraordinary accomplishment and has the ability to bring great vision to every individual and organization fortunate enough to work with him."

Optic Communications' partnering with Aldrin is the latest of the company's many recent initiatives promoting its growth and expansion. Optic has markedly increased its presence in the business telecommunications markets of Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and the United States. Optic has also recently established call center operations in the Philippines and expanded its long-standing call center facilities in Cairo, Egypt.

Aldrin is the founder of non-profit ShareSpace Foundation which is developing programs to educate and prepare the public for space tourism, and was appointed by President Bush to the Commission on the Future of the U.S. Aerospace Industry to evaluate the impact of space tourism on long-range space exploration. Aldrin flew 66 missions as a fighter pilot during the Korean conflict and has logged a record 290 hours of flying time in space. Aldrin is also a renowned author and recently released his first illustrated children's book, "Reaching for the Moon," which chronicles the famed astronaut's lifelong dream of space travel space travel: see space exploration; space science. and debuted at No. 2 on the New York Times Book Review -- Children's Best Sellers Picture Books.
