The championship leader went into yesterday's race at Silverstone eyeing a fifth win in a row and had high hopes of recording an historic first-ever victory on home soil. But the Englishman's dreams were dashed from the outset with his Brawn GP car struggling to get grip into its tyres in low temperatures at the Northamptonshire circuit. The 29-year-old could only manage sixth place on the starting grid and never competed in a race won by Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel Sebastian Vettel (born July 3 1987 in Heppenheim) is a German race car driver. He is currently contracted to the Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula One team alongside Vitantonio Liuzzi after replacing Scott Speed on July 31 2007. . The victory means the German now trails Button by 25 points at the halfway point in the season but Vettel's car now appears to have the edge on the Brawn after the Milton Keynes based team rolled out a raft of revisions to their RB5. But Button believes yesterday's race was a blip for Brawn and that picking up three points on a bad day was actually a success for the team. He said: "If you don't get the tyres in their working range it doesn't matter what car you've got, it doesn't work. "The pace wasn't there and that's just the way our car is at low temperatures. Hopefully this will be the worst race of the year. We battled hard to get three points and they may well end up proving very valuable." Button's team chief Ross Brawn agreed and said: "This is not a complete disaster for the championship. You can have days when you struggle and it could have been a lot worse."
