Busy weekend scheduled in Fayetteville.The quest for the 7A state baseball crown appears to be wide open, with any number of teams appearing on paper to have a good shot at the title when the state championships are decided in Fayetteville May 8-9. The tourney will be held at at Baum Stadium on the campus of the University of Arkansas. At press time, defending state champion Fayetteville was battling Fort Smith Southside and Springdale Har-Ber for the top spot in the 7A-West, while Bryant, North Little Rock and Conway were locked into a battle for the top spot m the 7A-Central conference. The Arkansas Razorbacks' new softball facility Bogle Park will be the host site of the state softball finals the same weekend. Fayetteville is the defending champion and was locked in a battle with Bentonville for the 7A-West's top spot. Just as they are in baseball, Bryant, North Little Rock and Conway are battling for the first-round state tournament byes out of 7A-Central. The state soccer finals will be held on the same weekend in Fayetteville with the 6A girls starting at 2 p.m. on May 8, on the UA campus. |
