Busy weekend of competition about to start; RACING Jockey Paul Hanagan with the inside track.

Byline: Jockey Paul

TOMORROW and Saturday are two more busy days of racing for me. Haydock Park on Friday afternoon and Pontefract in the evening, followed by Ripon on Saturday - and I expect to be back at Haydock in the evening.

Of my three rides at Haydock tomorrow, I'd say the best chance is Layla's Boy in the opening Stainless Wire Ltd Maiden Stakes. He was second at Ayr last week, but these Haydock maiden races are very competitive, so an each-way chance.

The Haydock Park Annual Badgeholders Club Claiming Stakes has cut up a little, and there will be only four or five runners. My mount Visions Of Johanna would have a chance if there were to be a good gallop.

I have a full book of rides at Pontefract in the evening. My best opportunities are definitely Stateside state·side

I love Total Impact to bits. He's a hold-up horse, so it's up to yours truly to produce him at the right moment. He will go very close.

I am writing before I know the declarations for Haydock Park on Saturday evening when I notice there is a concert by tribute act Bj|rn Again after racing finishes. That'll certainly bring in the crowds.

Two of my intended rides will have good chances if they run, so check out the declarations.

A tough horse, I think he will go close if he runs in the Anne Rowlands Memorial CRUK CRUK Cancer Research United Kingdom  Handicap at 8.40pm.

Last week's meeting at York was a strange one for me. Some of my fancied rides didn't win, and a couple of those that I hadn't expected to did!

I thought Albaqaa ran a great race to finish third from a dreadful draw in the John Smith's Cup. He has to be covered up so I had no option but to wait until there was an opening. He ran on strongly to be third. If we'd had the luck of the draw, I think he could have won.

. THE next racing at Haydock Park is the two-day meeting on July 17, a Friday afternoon, and Saturday evening July 18 which includes a concert by Bj|rn Again after racing finishes at 9.10pm. Admission: Newton Enclosure (Friday pounds 8 & Saturday pounds 10); Tattersalls (pounds 15 & pounds 18); County Enclosure (pounds 23 & pounds 28); and Premier Enclosure (pounds 34 & pounds 43).
