Businesses served up a top award; SHIRLEY.


TWO Solihull businesses are celebrating after a unique training programme helped them scoop a prestigious award for their high standards.

Staff at Kinderland Day Nursery, in Shirley, and Kingsford Court, a sheltered housing complex in Solihull, took Solihull Council up on an offer of training in food hygiene.

The caterers were given the opportunity after the council was given funding from the Food Standards Agency The Food Standards Agency is a non-ministerial government department of the Government of the United Kingdom. It is responsible for protecting public health in relation to food throughout the United Kingdom and is led by an appointed board that is intended to act in the public  to give training on food safety laws.

More than 300 businesses in the borough took up the council's offer.

 food inspectors so much during an inspection that they were awarded with the top hygiene rating in Solihull, the Food Safety First Award.
