Reflecting the growth of enterprise in the district, 18 companies entered the New Business of the Year Award - one of 11 which will be presented on the night.

Organisers have also introduced a new category, the Wansbeck Spirit of Enterprise Award, to recognise the achievements of other new businesses which have started trading in the past few months.

Ken Hastie, manager of the Wansbeck Business Forum, said: "The standard of entries has been exceptionally high this year. "This has been an extraordinary year for the business community in Wansbeck.
