Its headquarters is at the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri–Columbia. The Business Journal was the only publication in Los Angeles to receive a SABEW SABEW Society of American Business Editors and Writers, Inc. award this year. Lacter's columns treated such L.A. subjects as the effect of homelessness on downtown's renewal, the region's new economic resilience and the lack of oversight by the board of the Getty Trust in relation to former president Barry Munitz's spending. The judges said Lacter "explains what's happening in L.A. and puts it into international context in a clear, approachable way."
