CAMBRIDGE - Bioenvision Inc.'s largest shareholder said the drugmaker shouldn't have accepted Genzyme Corp.'s buyout bid of $345 million, or $5.60 a share, calling the offer low and ill-timed.

New Best Buy

LEOMINSTER - Best Buy Co. Inc. will open a 30,000-square-foot store at 10 a.m. tomorrow at 33 Orchard Hill Park Drive.

The home appliance and electronics retailer will employ about 100 people at the store, which will be managed by Steven Thurston, Best Buy reported.

Best Buy is opening stores in 11 U.S. communities tomorrow. The company reported it will make donations to community charities at the openings. Best Buy will have 852 stores across the country as of tomorrow.

Panel formed

HOPKINTON - Boston Life Sciences Inc. said it has formed a panel of scientific and clinical experts to advise the company on its nerve repair program.

Boston Life Sciences reported in a news release that the six new advisers join three existing advisers and will focus on helping the company to find the best approaches to repair nerves, particularly in spinal cord injuries.

The new advisers are Dr. John F. Ditunno Jr. of Jefferson Medical College; Dr. James Fawcett of Cambridge University Centre for Brain Repair; Dr. Michael G. Fehlings of the University of Toronto Research at the University of Toronto has been responsible for the world's first electronic heart pacemaker, artificial larynx, single-lung transplant, nerve transplant, artificial pancreas, chemical laser, G-suit, the first practical electron microscope, the first cloning of T-cells, ; Dr. Daniel P. Lammertse of Craig Hospital; John Steeves of the University of British Columbia Locations

Abbott in Africa

Abbott Fund, a charitable fund of Abbott Laboratories of Abbott Park, Ill., said it is opening a new office in Tanzania to manage philanthropic efforts and partnerships in the African country.

Abbott Fund recently awarded $9 million in grants aimed at dealing with the spread of HIV HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), either of two closely related retroviruses that invade T-helper lymphocytes and are responsible for AIDS. There are two types of HIV: HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-1 is responsible for the vast majority of AIDS in the United States.  and AIDS, the company reported yesterday in a news release.
