SAN FRANCISCO San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden  & BANGKOK, Thailand -- Business Wire has further boosted its Asian reach by entering into a local-language distribution agreement with Thai Business News, a Bangkok-based information service that provides in-depth coverage of Thailand's consumer and trade media, as well as its robust financial sector, Cathy Baron Tamraz, Business Wire president, announced today.

Thai Business News (http://www.thaibusinessnews.com) offers saturation coverage of both the mainstream media and business/financial publications, complete with in-country produced Thai translations. Founded by Dennis Cookson, who headed up Reuters' operations in Thailand from 1997-2002, Thai Business News provides a valuable new dimension to Business Wire's strong regional distribution platform.

"Bangkok continues to be one of the major cylinders propelling Asia's forward momentum," said Tamraz. "Providing local language distribution in the dynamic Thai market significantly bolsters our pan-regional and global circuits."

"We're delighted to be able to bring business news from the world's leading companies to the Thai media and investment community," added Cookson, who held regional and international marketing posts for Reuters in Tokyo and London prior to his Thailand posting. "Business Wire is renowned the world over for its distribution of market-moving news releases and corporate announcements. Thai Business News is proud to be part of its comprehensive international network."

The Thai distribution arrangement is the latest enhancement to Business Wire's Asian coverage. Business Wire recently became the first -- and remains the only -- commercial news service to gain access to the Asia Pacific media networks of the world's largest and leading news agencies: The Associated Press Associated Press: see news agency.
