Business Today in 2 Minutes: BNFL will sell Magnox reactors.


THE break-up of British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL BNFL British Nuclear Fuels LTD ) has continued after it unveiled plans to sell its business which runs operations at 10 reactors in the UK.

BNFL said it has "commenced the sale" of the newly created Reactor Sites Management Company (RSMC RSMC Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre
RSMC Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier (Canada Post)
RSMC ROTC Support Mission Command
), which manages its operations and decommissioning at the Magnox sites including Sizewell A, Hinkley Point Hinkley Point is a headland on the Bristol Channel coast of Somerset, England, five miles north of Bridgwater and five miles west of Burnham-on-Sea, close to the mouth of the River Parrett.  A and Dungeness A.

Magnox nuclear reactors have generated electricity in the UK for nearly 50 years, with two of the four still in operation ceasing by the end of this year and the other two, Oldbury and Wylfa, in 2008 and 2010 respectively.

BNFL chief executive Mike Parker said: "BNFL will ensure that the sale will follow a fair and transparent process.

"During this process, our focus continues to be the safe, secure and cost-effective operation and clean-up of the UK's civil nuclear sites.

The other sites included in the sale of RSMC are Bradwell, Berkeley, Trawsfynydd, Chapelcross and Hunterston A.
