Business Owners, Executives to Learn ABCs of Acquisitions at 2008 Phoenix M&A Conference.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Owners and CEOs of small and midsize companies will learn how to formulate and execute a strategy to identify, finance and integrate acquisitions at a January 2008 one-day conference at the Buttes Resort in Tempe. The conference theme is "A Master Class Presentation - How to Buy a Company as a Corporate Growth Strategy." It is being sponsored by the M&A Source and hosted by Capital Advice, a local investment bank.

The conference will feature eight panel discussions on topics that include "Legal Issues Involved in Buying a Company," "Financing the Deal--Options Available," and "How to Partner with Private Equity Groups." Representatives from leading firms such as Grant Thornton, and Jennings, Strouss, Platinum sponsors of the conference along with the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, will share their insights with business owners as well as other transaction professionals. In addition, a number of Private Equity Groups, including The Omnia Group, Svoboda Collins and C3 Capital, all of which have significant investments in the Phoenix area, will participate in the discussions.

While growing through acquisition was once considered the exclusive domain of the largest companies, it has become an outstanding way for small and midsize firms to expand, according to Walt Lipski, former chairman of the M&A Source and a principal with Capital Advice. "This conference will address the key issues that will face every business owner and company executive who decides that acquisition may be a faster way to grow than organically and who may want to increase their succession options," said Lipski.

The M&A Source, the largest international organization of intermediaries focused on middle-market companies, has conducted similar conferences in 2007; locations have included Chicago, Boston and Pittsburgh.
