Anderson served as Novell's CIO for 5 years before becoming the general manager of Novell Customer Services, where she was responsible for the company's technical support, education, and consulting businesses.

Anderson's prior experience also includes 10 years with Charles Schwab & Company in a number of senior IT roles focusing on operations, telecommunications, and client server development. Anderson holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Stanford University.
