Business Objects Names New Vice President of European Operations.

SAN JOSE, Calif. & PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 2002

Business Objects (Nasdaq:BOBJ BOBJ Business Objects SA ), the world's leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced that it has named Maurizio Carli to the position of group vice president, European operations. In this position, Carli reports to John Olsen, president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Carli joins Business Objects with more than 18 years of experience in high technology sales and executive management. Most recently, Carli was vice president of software for IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) , based in Paris and managing the region covering Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) Refers to that region of the world. For example, one might see products packaged differently for the UK, EMEA and Asia Pacific markets. ). In this position he was responsible for a $4 billion business and more than 5000 employees.

Prior to that he was vice president and general manager for the IBM Tivoli Systems Division. He also held sales and sales management positions in government, education, and healthcare for IBM.
