Business Objects Announces Entry to Greater China.


CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 1996--Business Objects (BOBJY), a leading provider of enterprise decision support tools, is joining forces with Hong Kong Hong Kong (hŏng kŏng), Mandarin Xianggang, special administrative region of China, formerly a British crown colony (2005 est. pop. 6,899,000), land area 422 sq mi (1,092 sq km), adjacent to Guangdong prov.  based Pacific Technology Group to bring its client/server decision support tool, BusinessObjects, to The People's Republic People's Republic

Under the agreement, Pacific Technology Group will establish a fully owned subsidiary called Business Objects Greater China that will be fully dedicated to the non-exclusive distribution, marketing, and support of Business Objects' products in the region. Business Objects will not be a shareholder of Business Objects Greater China. This alliance will enable Business Objects to leverage Pacific Technology Group's infrastructure in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, including access to Pacific Technology Group's customers that have over the last few years deployed client/server systems throughout their enterprises.

Business Objects Greater China, Pacific Technology Group, and Business Objects will jointly assess the timing for and, when appropriate, co-operate in the production of both Simplified and Traditional Chinese versions of BusinessObjects.
