Cross-border collaboration theme of October CONNECT USA/Canada Economic Summit

Business and organization leaders will see viable cross-border connections and opportunities for their own successes in manufacturing, research, academics and life sciences at the CONNECT U.S./Canada Economic Summit set for October 6 - 7, 2008, in Grand Forks, N.D.

The agenda includes tours of the University of North Dakota North Dakota, state in the N central United States. It is bordered by Minnesota, across the Red River of the North (E), South Dakota (S), Montana (W), and the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba (N).  School of Aerospace Sciences, the Research Enterprise and Commercialization Park, and other businesses with cross-border connections.

Officials in Grand Forks will share their experiences in collaborating with Winnipeg. Additional presenters include:

- Joel Garreau Joel Garreau (born 1948) is an American journalist and author. Currently he works as the editor in charge of "cultural revolution" reporting at the Washington Post, as senior fellow at the School of Public Policy at George Mason University, and principal of The Garreau Group, which , author of The Nine Nations of North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere.  

- Jim Phillips, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of the Canadian/American Border Trade Alliance

- Joel Kotkin, author of North America Needs an Energy Community, and now writing a book about the United States and North America in the year 2050

- Livio Di Matteo, author of the Centre of Continent Needs Economic Union

- Eric Benjaminson, Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs, U.S. Embassy in Ottawa
