Business Journal names new editor.


Charles Crumpley has been named editor of the Business Journal, effective Jan. 1, Publisher Matthew Toledo has announced.

Crumpley, who had been business editor of the Times-Picayune of New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded  for three years, succeeds Mark Lacter, who earlier announced that he would be stepping down after nine years heading the Business Journal's newsroom. Lacter will continue to play a role with the paper.

As editor, Crumpley will be in charge of all editorial operations for both the weekly Business Journal and the daily online edition. "I'm really looking forward to working at the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Business Journal," he said. "It is an outstanding and award-winning publication, and I'm honored to play a part in continuing that fine tradition."

Before the Times-Picayune, Crumpley was business editor of the Daily Oklahoman in Oklahoma City Oklahoma City (1990 pop. 444,719), state capital, and seat of Oklahoma co., central Okla., on the North Canadian River; inc. 1890. The state's largest city, it is an important livestock market, a wholesale, distribution, industrial, and financial center, and a farm . He also was senior financial writer for the Kansas City Kansas City, two adjacent cities of the same name, one (1990 pop. 149,767), seat of Wyandotte co., NE Kansas (inc. 1859), the other (1990 pop. 435,146), Clay, Jackson, and Platte counties, NW Mo. (inc. 1850).  Star and before that spent 14 years at the Kansas City Times.

He has won four national journalism awards The National Journalism Awards are among the most prestigious awards in American journalism. Given by the Scripps Howard Foundation, the $10,000 to $25,000 awards recognize the best work in journalism in 17 categories, including: human interest writing; environmental and public  and has been awarded two national fellowships, including a Fulbright fellowship to Japan.
