Business Bank of Nevada CFO/COO Awarded Board Member of the Month for a Second Time by United Way of Southern Nevada.

Business Editors

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 2000

Business Bank of Nevada today announced that Larry Charlton, executive vice president and chief financial and operating officer of the bank, was named board member of the month for June by United Way of Southern Nevada.

This is the second time Charlton has received this award, which was first presented to him in May of last year.

This distinction comes as a result of Charlton's participation in the 2000 and 2001 Program Selection process for the Family and Youth area of United Way. Since joining United Way of Southern Nevada Board of Directors in 1996, Charlton has served on the organization's executive board that oversees the program selection process. As a member of the executive board, Charlton is responsible for analyzing community issues, attending workshops and interfacing with member agency representatives, serving as team members and leaders for site visits, and determining final funding recommendations for Board approval.

"We are very pleased to have Larry on our board and to recognize him for the second time as the board member of the month," said Garth Winckler, president and chief professional officer of United Way of Southern Nevada. "With 60 business and community leaders serving on our board, it's not that easy to become board member of the month, especially for a second time. This award recognizes those board members who go above and beyond what is asked of them and Larry is clearly a board member who demonstrates that commitment each and every month."

Winckler added that without the dedication and hard work of volunteers like Larry, United Way and other nonprofit agencies in Nevada would not be successful and have the ability to reach out and help the people and communities they serve. "We rely very heavily on our volunteers and we can't thank them enough for their countless hours of service and commitment to making our community a better place."

Since coming to Las Vegas in 1974, Charlton has served on a number of other nonprofit boards and been a part of various community organizations, including Southern Nevada 4-H, Southern Nevada Clean Communities, Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Leadership Las Vegas Program, and the Paybac Program through the Clark County School District The Clark County School District, as of 2005, is the 5th largest school district in the United States. It serves all of Clark County, Nevada, including the cities of Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, and Mesquite; plus the census-designated places of Laughlin, .

"When it comes to community and volunteer outreach, Larry exemplifies what it means to give back to the community," said John Guedry, president and chief executive officer of Business Bank of Nevada. "There are very few people who work as hard in their volunteer work as they do in their professional life, and Larry embodies those qualities. We're very fortunate to have Larry working for us after spending 25 years with Bank of America
