Bushmaster fires in the desert.
The newest member of ATK's Bushmaster Chain Gun family, the
Lightweight 25 mm (LW25), underwent successful test firings at the
company's facility in Mesa, Arizona. The dual-feed LW25 was
developed to provide multiple mission profiles and cover many of the
operations currently served by .50-calibre machine guns and 40 mm
grenade launchers. The LW25 is compatible with ATK's Programmable
Air Bursting Munition (PABM), which is used to defeat targets in
trenches, behind walls and around corners. The weapon features what the
company terms as <<first round select>>, which allows the
user to switch between two different types of ammunition.
