Bush adviser resigns over charges. (Insider Report).

Richard Perle Richard N. Perle (born 16 September 1941 in New York City) is an American political advisor and lobbyist who worked for the Reagan administration as an assistant Secretary of Defense and worked on the Defense Policy Board Advisory Committee from 1987 to 2004. , a leading neoconservative ne·o·con·ser·va·tism also ne·o-con·ser·va·tism

The Wall Street Journal reported Mr. Perle's resignation on March 28th, after stories in the New York New York, state, United States

Times and The New Yorker reported that he had violated ethics rules by using his position on the DPB for personal financial benefit. Perle reportedly stood to gain $750,000 for helping Global Crossing, the telecommunications giant that has now filed for bankruptcy.

The question of Perle's personal gain is not the most important aspect of the Global Crossing affair. According to reports, Perle was using his influence to overcome Defense Department and FBI objections to selling Global Crossing to foreign buyers in Hong Kong and Singapore because of national security concerns. The sale would put the company's fiber optics fiber optics, transmission of digitized messages or information by light pulses along hair-thin glass fibers. Each fiber is surrounded by a cladding having a high index of refractance so that the light is internally reflected and travels the length of the fiber  network and other technology used extensively by the U.S. government under foreign (i.e., Communist Chinese) control.

Perle's resignation as the DPB's chairman, unfortunately, will not end his influence in the administration; he will continue to serve as a board member. Perle, together with Michael Ledeen, Paul Wolfowitz, Elliott Abrams, and Douglas Feith (all members of the world-government-promoting Council on Foreign Relations The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is an influential and independent, nonpartisan foreign policy membership organization founded in 1921 and based at 58 East 68th Street (corner Park Avenue) in New York City, with an additional office in Washington, D.C. ), strongly favors expanding the war in Iraq to the whole Middle East region, including U.S. invasion of Syria, Iran, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia. "It may turn out to be a war to remake the world," says Ledeen.
