Bush Senior to speak at Sage.

Former us President George Bush Senior will be the keynote speaker at the first ever North-East International Business Convention, which is being held at the Sage Gateshead next summer.

Mr Bush, who was the 41st President from 1989 to 1993, will deliver the main address at the conference on June 7.

The NEIBC is based on the Yorkshire International Business Convention, which has been running for ten years, and has attracted a number of influential world figures as speakers.

They include former US President Bill Clinton, former Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev, Nobel Peace Prize The Nobel Peace Prize (Swedish and Norwegian: Nobels fredspris) is the name of one of five Nobel Prizes bequeathed by the Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel.  winners F.W.de Klerk de Klerk   , F(rederik) W(illem) Born 1936.

Mike Firth, who is responsible for running the YIBC in Harrogate, said they had decided to add extra dates in Newcastle and Manchester in 2006.

He said: "I am absolutely delighted that we are able to launch the North-East convention with such an outstanding keynote speaker. Since I first launched the Business Convention in 1995 I have looked for speakers who in many different ways have something to say that is not only worth hearing, but is of direct value to the delegates.

"In his time as President George Bush was responsible for some of the most significant events in recent times: the ending of the Cold War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the end of the Soviet Union. Moments of world history literally took place under his command.

"The man is a natural leader and that has got to be something that is going to interest every businessman and woman at the convention in Gateshead.

"This is a man who celebrated his 80th birthday by going skydiving. He has lived through some amazing times and he has some amazing stories to tell and even though I am organising the convention I can't wait to hear what he has to say."
