Bush Hog, LLC, Selma Selma, city (1990 pop. 23,755), seat of Dallas co., S central Ala., on the Alabama River, in a fertile farm area; inc. 1820. Machinery, paper products, construction materials, transportation equipment, furniture, textiles, apparel, dairy products, and lumber are among its manufactures. A Confederate arsenal and supply point, Selma was ravaged in 1865; however, a number of antebellum houses remain—notably Sturdivant Hall (1853). Sen., Ala., plans to construct a new 330,000 sq. ft. facility in Jonesborough, Tenn., which will manufacture Bush Hog and Great Bend Great Bend, city (1990 pop. 15,427), seat of Barton co., central Kans., on a bend in the Arkansas River; settled and inc. 1872. It is a trade and shipping center for a wheat and oil region. Alfalfa pellets and farm machinery are manufactured. Great Bend was located on the old Santa Fe Trail. front-end loaders and the complete line of Bush Hog zero-turn mowers. Production at the Great Bend, Kan., plant will be phased out, and loader manufacturing in Selma will be transferred to the new plant. Construction is expected to be finished by the spring of 2002.
