Busak+Shamban launches new coatings technology.Busak+Shamban, a supplier of products and solutions for industrial sealing and bearing systems, has unveiled a new coating technology that is used on glass braided shielding for aeroengine applications. Turcon, a PTFE-based coating, was designed by the company to improve friction characteristics and increase resistance to shearing. This method of sleeving has been used around steel clip on fuel line pipes helping reduce aeroengine fire risk. This Turcom coated glass braided shielding has also proved of value in protecting cables installed in areas where they are at risk of shearing, including cabling next to helicopter rotor blades. It is resistant to the extremes of heat generated by the engine and in some applications has been found to reduce the effect of fungal growth invasion, which deteriorates copper fuel lines. A range of sleeving is now being Manufactured by Busak+shamban, utilizing the liquid Turcon method of coating, to suit aerospace and other installations where sheer resistance and minimal friction is important. |
