Bus pass increase.


PENSIONERS and disabled people are snapping up free buses in Wrexham Wrexham (rĕk`səm), Welsh Wrescam, town (1981 pop. 39,929) and county borough, 193 sq mi (499 sq km), NE Wales. It lies in the coal field of N Wales. , new figures reveal.

Figures supplied by the Assembly Members Research Service to Wrexham AM Lesley Griffiths (Susan) Lesley Griffiths (born 1960) is a Welsh Labour Party politician. She worked as the constituency assistant to John Marek and Ian Lucas, successive Members of Parliament for Wrexham, and was elected to the National Assembly for Wales from the Wrexham constituency in 2007.  show the number of passes issued to pensioners and disabled people, under the Labour-led Assembly Government scheme, has increased from 7,100 to 23,606 since 2001-02.

Nationally, a record 612,559 concessionary passes were issued in 2008-09.

Ms Griffiths said: I am absolutely delighted with the number of eligible passengers using the free passes."
