Burst water main causes traffic chaos.

A BURST water main forced police to close a busy road yesterday morning.

Parts of Conway Road, Mochdre were under nearly a foot of water.

Fire crews were called to divert the water away from business units at 5.45am.

A North Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England.  Fire Service spokeswoman said they were alerted at 5.45am and appliances from Colwyn Bay were sent to the scene.

"Two properties were affected and fire fighters isolated the power supply from these and other buildings," she said.

They were joined by Dwr Cymru engineers who worked to repair the burst.

Later Conwy Council staff were sent to help the clean-up operation.

A council spokeswoman said: "By 8.45am the water had subsided enough for our mechanical street sweepers to start clearing the residue from the road.

"The team were on site for about 25minutes to get the road open as soon as possible."

Diversions were in place until 9.32am.
